To this day...I am still flattered and tickled pink when I hear people telling me and your mom about how you look exactly like me..that you are my "carbon copy"....The very first time anyone saw you...the
Ob-Gyne..."Hay
Naku, Jonathan na Jonathan!"...I was beaming....my smile was from ear
to ear.....seeing you for the first time gave me a thrill I could never
describe....I have a son!
Now when I hear some people saying that while we look alike, we seem so different...you seem more active, more into sports...and less refined...I tell them, I am happy that you're doing things I never did...I am happy that you are more athletic than I am...the refinement will come...I am sure of it....as long as you never forget your studies...I will support your activities.
I have scolded you quite often these days...because I have been worried that perhaps, sometimes, you have let your other activities take precedence over your studies....and we can't have that...and as your dad, it is my job to remind you of your priorities....in this regard, I may not support some of your activities and hobbies.....but I will always support you!
The thing that a lot of people don't know about you...is that you're very sweet......despite being scolded...right after having dinner, you would still say "Goodnight!" to each person on the table...and I never trained you to do this...you started this beautiful habit all by yourself and now your sisters are doing it as well.
Very recently, a "yaya" or a nanny of your sister Lizzie's classmate, who happens to be the sister of your batch mate , had these words to say about you..."Nakakatuwa po yung anak nyo, kasi
'pag pumupunta po siya sa bahay namin para mag basketball....ano man po ang gawin ko o dalhin ko para sa kanila....lagi po siyang nagpapasalamat...minsan po nag-aalok pa tumulong....at lagi pong may 'ate' at 'po'."..... I and your mom were so proud of you when we heard the story....again and again..I was telling your mom...."he's my son".
You are also you're A-pe's (Uncle, my recently deceased brother) only nephew and you know how much he loves you....I know he watches over you...and I do talk to him every day...asking him to pray for you as well.
You have good friends my son..I know that...but always remember....that next to God...I will always be your best friend...we may not see eye to eye on a lot of things...but I will always have your back....I may hurt you at times with my words...but I will never do anything that is not done out of love..I will be your most loyal friend...the one who will fall and rise with you through every trials and struggles.
You will require my presence less and less as you grow older, but remember....I will never be too far away....I will always be your dad...and I will love you no matter what!
