ARROGANCE

ARROGANCE

Arrogance is a trait reserved for those who pretend to be happy...but are actually...down deep inside...insecure, envious and sometimes, even full of hate.

There is a Filipino saying that says "Di bale magyabang basta may pinagyayabang." I have never been a fan or a follower of this saying...this was obviously made by an arrogant man.

How do you know when you have the right to be arro

gant?....When you've become rich?.....How do you know when you're rich enough?....Has it never occurred to you that a lot of people are still richer than you..even those who post about their problems....because your idea about being rich is vastly different from theirs.

I have a lot of friends and batch mates who are rich, some of them are even included in the "Forbes Magazine" of the richest people in Asia....but....and this is what truly counts....they have never bragged about it....they support scholarships, give to charity...they never brag about their properties...I guess they don't feel the need to.

I have a lot of relatives who have a great life abroad...some of them have sent their nephews and nieces to school....some of them continue to send money to my parents...some of them sent money when my wife had to be operated on....but none of them, none of them....talk about it....ever!

I have relatives....one in particular....who ever since I was a little boy would send "pasalubongs" and now "door to door"....when I first married my wife....she was shocked at the things they would send us, not only on Christmas time.....and it was not just ordinary or your typical pasalubongs....it was "grand"....but said relatives never talked about it, posted it.....never even wants it mentioned.....and I mean never!

I am pleased to say....that all of my relatives and friends are like this....they never brag.

My sister is a manager at SGV with ties to Ernst and Young, and is married to a partner at SGV.....both she and her husband has continued to shower my kids with gifts....they never bragged or talked about it....both have FB accounts....

I guess the biggest difference between those who brag and those who don't is......There are those who are so comfortable with their lives and what they have that they find real pleasure in it, and decide to share it with other people......the pleasure is not in the bragging, it's in the giving...and they truly are happy! Then there are those who pretend to be happy and give to brag, not to share. This incessant need to brag...is actually pitiful.

I end with how I started....
