ARE WE REALLY LESS GRACIOUS?

Are we really less gracious?

After Romney's very gracious act of conceding to President Obama....once again, we hear everyone, esp. reporters citing the big differences between elections and candidates abroad, compared to hoe what we have here in the Philippines.....

The reporters had a field day yesterday, discussing about how decent and how much of a gentleman, compared to us, American Politic

ians are.....

They said that here in the Philippines, if a candidate loses an election, instead of conceding, he would file a protest and claim that he was cheated.....

While there is a lot of merit in this comparison...

the comparison should not end here...

and this is not the biggest difference.....

If the younger Senator Pimentel had not filed a protest, he would not have become Senator, and we would not have known that he was cheated.....

So was the Senator ungracious because he fought, what he believed was an unfair election?.....

So would it have been preferable for him to accept defeat although he knew he was cheated?

The biggest difference between our politicians and the politicians in the States, is not that their candidates concede and our politicians don't.....

The real difference is one even more embarrassing and degrading.....

Most of our politicians cheat in elections....everybody knows it, and that is why...it isn't easy to accept defeat.

Accepting defeat in a fair fight....that is the only way to go....but one is not less gracious for accepting it well.

But accepting defeat in an arena that reeks of cheating, lying, corruption and manipulation???

So are we really less gracious?....

NO....our candidates do not concede that easily.....because cheating is rampant, cheating is a reality!
