MIDNIGHT SNACK
Well...at least, once a week...usually on a Saturday...at about 11:00 or 11:30 p.m., I go down to the kitchen, sometimes with Mary Nicole, but usually with Niccolo, to cook or prepare our midnight snack....it usually consists
of either Hamdesal with Egg and Cheese with Roast Beef Spread or
Longganisa Fried Rice with Spam or Vienna Sausage....then we have Apple
Ice Tea for the kids and Jasmine Tea for me and Dinah.....it
doesn't sound healthy...but we do it only once a week, and Dinah and I
eat very little...and then we watch a film on dvd or just laugh at each
other's jokes, while eating.
You don't need to go on
extravagant trips, or eat out, esp. if you are on a budget, to have
quality time with family....you can do this anytime and anywhere....I
don't cook extra-special meals....but I've been doing this for my
family, for quite a while now...Dinah prepares the official meals...and I
do the midnight snacks.
I read this somewhere......some adults
were interviewed about what they remembered the most about their
parents....very few said anything about lavish gifts or trips...most of
them said...."I remembered my dad reading to me every night. I remember
watching tv with him almost every night. I remember us spending a lot of
time together."
I may not be able to give my kids expensive
gifts....but I do hope they remember the ordinary and the simple
everyday things that daddy did for them.....and I hope they remember our
midnight snacks with fondness.
GOD BLESS ALL OF US!
