It is never wrong to be strict with
your children, esp. when you've set the rules, scolding is sometimes
warranted....what's wrong is when you disrespect them and treat them like
morons...kids are intelligent, but they need guidance....so explain the merits
of your rules...do it again and again until they get it...then make them feel
that you love them, like no one else can.
Remember when it comes to our
children, there is no such thing as "being over-protective". Protect
them from all forms of harm, even from evil intentions, if you can, it is our
obligation, our responsibility, Even if they resist at first, insist on it,
fight them on it, explain the merits of your restrictions...then pray for it,
and hope for enlightenment for you and for your kids.
A piece of advice to
parents....before you allow your daughters to join any "beauty contests",
first check the organizers...check the group, do they have good standing in the
community, then check the individual members. Then ask yourselves, why a small
town beauty contest has to have a swimsuit event? Don't let your daughters get
exploited...even if they persist, PROHIBIT THEM, if it's for their own good.
Another advice to parents...father and mother should see eye to eye when it comes to ways and means to discipline their child....what is allowed, what is not allowed, how strict they will be....one parent, the father, for example, will be very strict to his daughter....the mother will have to be the understanding parent, explaining to her child why such rules are set....she should not connive with the daughter, to hide something from the father....the results oftentimes are disastrous.....the mother not only disrespects the father, but has actually given her daughter license to lie to her father and betray his trust....how can this be acceptable? .....Parenthood requires teamwork...both parents looking out for their child's future.
As parents....wherever we are...whether outside, at home, or here in the net or FB.... be careful about what we do, what we say and what we write....because no matter how loud we yell at them, even if we lecture them all day....kids are better in imitating what they see, rather than following what they hear!
A few nights ago as I was about to
read an obscure comic book of mine, my son suddenly said, "Oh I remember
that book vividly", I was surprised, because this was a collection of old
western comic books, not really to his liking. The he said, "You read that
to me, each night, on my hospital bed, until I fell asleep." So spend
quality time with your kids...they never forget it.
CULTIVATE READING IN YOUR
KIDS...IT'S JUST ABOUT THE BEST HOBBY THERE IS...IT'LL BRING THEM TO DIFFERENT
WORLDS, INTRODUCE THEM TO DIFFERENT CULTURES...IT'LL STIR VARYING SENSATIONS
AND EMOTIONS IN THEM...AND IF THEY READ THE RIGHT BOOKS...IT CAN STRENGTHEN
THEM AND ENLIGHTEN THEM...SO START THEM EARLY...GET THEM A BOOK NOW!
I WOULD GLADLY TRADE MY PRIDE IN
EXCHANGE FOR AN APOLOGETIC AND HUMBLE HEART. SO DON'T EVER BE TOO PROUD TO SAY
YOUR SORRY, TO ANYONE, EVEN TO YOUR HELP AND TO YOUR EMPLOYEES, INCLUDING YOUR
ENEMIES. BUT ALWAYS BE MORE THAN READY TO SAY SORRY TO YOUR LOVED ONES, MOST
ESP. YOUR CHILDREN.
TO MY YOUNG FB FRIENDS...WHILE
RESPONSIBILITY MAY BE SOMETHING YOU REALLY HATE....REMEMBER THAT RESPONSIBILITY
IS ALSO THE ONE THING THAT MOLDS YOU, DEVELOPS YOU, GIVES YOU CHARACTER, GIVES
YOU STRENGTH...AND MAKES YOU A REAL MAN.
