A few days after my
wife's miraculous surgery and healing, still at her hospital bed, a
relative came to visit. This particular relative waited for me and for
my parents to leave the room so that she could talk to Dinah
alone....Then this is what she said to my wife...."You used to be a
Baptist or a Protestant....then instead of practicing your own religion,
you joined your husband and became a Catholic....this is why you were
punished and became sick!" ....My wife was dumbfounded, but instead of
getting angry, this was her answer....."I don't believe I was punished
by the Lord and this much I know.....we pray to the same GOD, we believe
in the only GOD, and we love the one true GOD!" ....wise words from a
healed believer.
I recalled this incident as I was watching a dvd with my kids. We're watching the movie "The Gospel of John", it stars no big name actors, so that the focus will be on the story and the lessons it imparts, and not on the actors....There is this particular scene where Jesus, along with His disciples, sees a man born blind asking for alms. His disciples asked Jesus, "Rabbi, who sinned this man or his parents, that He was born blind?" Jesus answered, "Neither he nor his parents sinned, it is so that the works of God might be made visible through him. We have to do the works of the one who sent me while it is day. Night is coming when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world." When He had said this, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva, and smeared the clay on his eyes, and said to him, "Go wash in the Pool of Siloam". So he went and washed, and came back able to see.
When my wife was first diagnosed with her illness, Dinah, I and our kids, prayed like we never did before, we believed like we've never believed before and we loved one another and GOD, like we've never loved before....and my wife was healed.....
While I know that my wife's illness was a not a punishment borne about by her sins....I would like to believe that it happened, not only so that the Lord can work His miracle though her, but also so that we could show our faith and our love for God.
This happened 4 years ago....and we have continued to believe and we have loved Him dearly and through each struggle and every difficulty, the Lord has continued to prove His love for us.
Have fun for the rest of the Holy Week, but please take some time to pray and reflect and remember that He died so that we may all be saved.
There is no GOD more powerful....there is no MASTER more understanding...there is no SAVIOR more merciful ...and there is no FATHER more loving!
DINAH DE GUZMAN, MY WIFE....HEALED BY THE POWER OF GOD'S LOVE.
